What are Preference in Adobe Illustrator CS6 ..?
Preferences are options that help customizing Illustrator to
a particular designing method and utilize available computer resources to optimize the
overall performance of the application. For instance, you can use the Units and Guides & Grid preferences to
precisely work with objects in Illustrator. Similarly, you can customize Plug-ins & Scratch Disks to run
Illustrator faster.
Illustrator contains various preference options that include General, Selection & Anchor Display,
Type, Units, Guides & Grid, Smart Guides,
Slices, Dictionary & Hyphenation, Plug-ins & Scratch Disks, User
Interface, File Handling Clipboard, and
Appearance of Black.
Preference settings are saved every time you close the application. Illustrator saves your preference in a file called AlPrefs (Windows), which is launched each time you start
preference settings using the Preferences dialog box. In the Preferences dialog box
preference category in the Category pane on the left to display the associated preferences settings, and then modify them.
Setting Illustrator Preferences
To set preferences in Illustrator, open the Preferences
dialog box, select the category in the left pane and modify
the preference setting. For instance, using the General category, you can
configure the common features of the
application, such as keyboard increment, anti-aliasing, and tooltips. You can
select the General category by selecting Edit→
Preferences →General from the Menu bar or pressing the CTRL+K keys together. The default unit of measurement
in Illustrator is point (pt).
Perform the following steps to set preference settings in the
General category:
1. Start the Illustrator CS6 application
2. Select
Edit→ Preferences →General from the Menu bar. The
Preferences dialog box appears with the General category selected.
3. You can configure Preference setting as require.
6. Click the OK button in the Preferences dialog
box to apply the changes.
